The Starry Night phenotype of Psilocybe cubensis is an isolation of Albino Penis Envy (APE), developed for its unique deep blue cap coloration during early to mid-maturity. While it shares the dense, thick-stemmed structure and high potency reputation of its parent lineage, the striking blue tones across the caps give it a distinctive visual identity that inspired its name.

Caps typically measure 2–5 cm in diameter, starting convex and remaining relatively rounded through maturity. The surface is smooth and displays a rich blue-green hue that can appear metallic under certain lighting, often fading slightly as the mushroom ages. Stems are thick, sturdy, and fibrous, ranging from 8–14 cm in height, with a pure white surface that may show blue bruising when handled. Fruits tend to develop in dense clusters, creating a dramatic contrast between the white stems and blue caps.

Starry Night colonizes grain and bulk substrates at a moderate pace, similar to other Penis Envy variants, and requires slightly longer fruiting times than average cubensis. Flushes are smaller in quantity but produce exceptionally dense, meaty fruits with above-average potency potential, consistent with APE genetics.
