The name ATL7 is not a phenotype designation but a nickname for the mushroom species Psilocybe galindoi. It was originally identified as Psilocybe atlantis after its discovery in Georgia, USA, just outside of Atlanta (ATL). Later taxonomic clarification placed it within P. galindoi, but the ATL7 nickname stuck in the mycology community. This hardy species tolerates heat exceptionally well and is famed for producing the largest sclerotia of any known sclerotia-forming psilocybe like the sclerotia of P. mexicana or P. tampanensis.
Caps typically measure 1–3 cm in diameter, starting conical to bell-shaped and maturing to broadly convex. They are a rich caramel-brown when young, often fading to a lighter tan or golden hue toward the margin as they age, and forming a darker spot in the center. Stems are slender, fibrous, and white to pale cream, ranging from 6–10 cm in height, sometimes with subtle blue bruising at the base. Fruiting bodies grow in loose clusters or scattered formations, with a graceful, delicate appearance.
Colonization speed is moderate, and fruiting occurs best with a properly applied casing layer, on top of a thin substrate to help reduce sclerotia formation, and instead mushroom forming. ATL7 is most renowned for its prolific sclerotia formation, producing large, dense truffles that can far exceed the size and weight of those produced by P. mexicana or P. tampanensis. Its resilience in warmer conditions makes it suitable for a wider range of cultivation environments compared to other sclerotia-forming species.
Our liquid cultures arrive in high-quality 10 ml laboratory-grade Luer-Lok syringes. Each order includes a sterile 1-inch, 16-gauge needle for microscopy slide dispensing.
